How much NMN should I take? The answer is here…

A question we are often asked at Charava is “How much NMN should I take?” So let’s examine how much NMN is best for you to take based on your age.

Your hormone production is directly responsible for the main cause of your energy levels starting to decline. Hormone production peaks in individuals at age 25. Unfortunately, from there it’s pretty much all downhill.

But that’s the bad news, let’s discuss the good news… Anecdotal data and studies on mice point to the possibility that taking NMN supplements could give you a boost.

As a reminder, NMN is a type of vitamin B3 that is used to make more NAD+, a chemical also necessary to activate your SIRTUIN (also known as longevity) genes.

For those under 35, we would advise starting with 250 mg of NMN supplementation each morning, ideally an hour before your breakfast. NMN helps to maintain the body's levels of NAD+, a vital coenzyme involved in numerous cellular activities. Circardian rhythms, the body's mechanism for controlling when you are awake and when it is time to go to sleep, have been proven to be regulated by NAD+. This is why we advise taking NMN first thing in the morning. Your body receives a wake-up call from your morning dose of NMN! As a substrate for your SIRTUIN genes, NAD+ promotes the activity of these genes. Oleic acid is another element that can support these vital, anti-aging genes (aka the active ingredient in extra virgin olive oil). As a result, you might want to take a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil along with your NMN. You can think about increasing your dose to 500 mg per day after a week or two to see how you feel.

If you're over 35, you may want to start with 500mg and work your way up to 1gram after a week.
